Castles, museums, archaeological sites... a holiday in Trentino is a chance of discovering not only wildlife and nature of the region, but also its history and culture.
Castles: from Castello del Buonconsiglio to Castel Beseno
It is well known that countless castles are to be found in the Trentino region. As it is impossible to visit all of them during one holiday, we suggest you to start from those located in the vicinity. Castello di Stenico stands on the top of a hill and dominates the outer Valli Giudicarie valleys. Castel Thun (16th century) is the most impressive and best-preserved castle of the Val di Non valley. Castello del Buonconsiglio in Trento still preserves the splendour it had at the time of the Tridentine Council, while Castel Beseno stands out for its medieval architecture. Do not forget you can visit all of the Trentino castles free with the

“Museo delle Palafitte”: the Dwellings Museum of Fiavè
The museum houses an interesting collection of tools and objects of daily use dating from the 4th to the 2nd millennium B.C. The finds on display were excavated in the pile dwelling settlement that is still partially visible in the nearby “Museo della Torbiera” (“Peat Moss Museum”) of Fiavè.
Muse & Mart: from Prehistory to Present Time
You should definitely not miss two museums during your holiday in Trentino: the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art “Mart” (“Museo dell'arte moderna e contemporanea”) of Rovereto and the Museum of Science “Muse” (“Museo delle Scienze”) of Trento. They were built on projects by the famous architects Mario Botta and Renzo Piano and are well worth a visit also because of their architecture. Besides its permanent exhibition, the Mart Museum hosts remarkable temporary events. The Muse Museum gives grown-ups and little ones alike interesting opportunities of getting to know science while playing and having fun. Do not forget that the
Trentino Guest Card gives you free access to the Muse and Mart Museums, too!
